Introduction to making VT’s

Today had a session to make sense of what goes into an interview VT; there is so much more that goes into making a interview than i thought, i always knew everything that is in a tv show, movie or an interview is in there for a reason but there is sop much more thinking that goes into them. I was surprised how easy they make it look when you watch it on TV and you would think it just comes naturally but it doesn’t, it takes time. For example we watched an interview that the BBC done with ex England football team manager Roy Hodgson which just looked so simplistic but also really good at the same time, and to think that someone had to come up with the idea in the first place when nothing remotely like that would have come into my thought at all. It’s really cool to see all this and how its made sense in the session. I found this really interesting today and really liking this unit already.

Introduction to editing

The first editing lecture was interesting, it was just an introduction to what we were going to be doing throughout this year and then a bit of editing techniques and Charlie showed lots of examples of what he is talking about, this is something i find really useful because talking about is one thing but when you see it in practise it makes it so much easier and better to know what is going on and what it looks like. We had our first session learning on the industry used editing software AVID. Previous to this I have never edited anything before so i felt like i may have been in a small percent of the class that has never done it either. But that didn’t matter because no one has used AVID before so the lecturer taught it to everyone like everyone was a beginner so i wasn’t behind at all. I followed every step of the way and wrote some notes just to remember certain thing like what splice means and other things like that. Just from this first lesson I feel like this unit will be difficult to learn but i will hopefully understand it all when it gets to the exam at the end of the year and can just carry on improving as we get further down the year.

Introduction to Graphics

For this unit we are learning lots of different types of adobe software. The software that we are using are Illustrator, Photoshop, Animate, After Effects and Cinema 4D. In the past i have only used Photoshop but hopefully the workshops can give me a few reminders on it as I would not be too confident on it at the moment. I am looking forward to learning these different types of graphic designs and just giving them a go. Hopefully i will pick up all the new ones quickly so i can make my final pieces to a really good standard.
